I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Munich in Germany. After some time abroad, I returned to my roots. As I have always been fascinated by foreign languages, I decided to take advantage of it and make it a career. So I decided to leave academic high school after the 10th grade and attend the Munich Foreign Language Institute (in 1981: Munich Language School): Ok, I admit, another incentive was the fact that my fight with maths was over with then. And in academic high school, that used to be a fight for survival for me...

After four wonderful years at the Foreign Language Institute, I graduated as a state certified translator.  I took my first baby steps in professional life working as a translator on a research project of the Munich Technical University. Later, I worked for various companies as a foreign language assistant.  

The media world had always been my secret passion and in 1990, my dream came true: I joined the Condé Nast publishing house...the MännerVogue photo department, to be more precise. Those were the happiest years as an employee. I started from scratch and worked my way up (I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alan Forman and Sylvia Geier, my bosses at that time). When my daugther was born, I decided to work as a freelancer, so I could still spend enough time with her. I got lucky and could work as a photo editor at the Burda publishing house in Munich. When my son joined the family four years later, it meant the end of my career as an editor. It was and surely still is a very intense job and I wanted to be there for my kids and see them grow up.  

However, I still wanted to work and that was the time when I laid the foundation of my little translator's office. and started working as a freelance translator. In addition, I taught English for kids at a kindergarten and adults at a private language school.  

I still love my 1-woman translator's office. In the last few years, however, I decided to give in to my other passion: writing. So I also work as a freelance author. Sabine's Moments stands for my love for media that is still going strong. This site is my personal version of an internet magazine, with gossip, fashion, trips and everything that's  on my mind and I like - or dislike.
